We are now offering SightScore genetic risk assessment for glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration (AMD) at our clinic!
SightScore is a simple saliva-based service that looks at genetic variants in your DNA to determine your personalised risk of developing different eye diseases.
Depending on your medical history and eye examination, your healthcare practitioner may use SightScore to consider:
• When you should first be checked for the eye disease.
• How often you should be checked.
• Lifestyle modifications.
• How to manage your care if you have the eye disease, including some treatment decisions.
• Whether your close blood relatives (e.g. parents, siblings, adult children) should be checked for the eye disease.
SightScore may also be used to help you understand your personal genetic risk. This will allow you to be proactive in your healthcare in regard to any recommendations about follow-up appointments and lifestyle changes that might be worthwhile.
