Dr Kelvin Ngan: Lessons from a Medical Retinal Fellowship

·       Recognise the clinical signs and multimodal imaging features of proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) and ocular ischaemic syndrome (OIS), and understand the relationship between these two sight-threatening conditions.

·       Identify key examination findings that distinguish ocular ischaemic syndrome from diabetic retinopathy alone, including anterior and posterior segment manifestations requiring urgent referral.

·       Understand the unique risks and perioperative considerations of cataract surgery in eyes with ocular ischaemic syndrome and severe retinal ischaemia.

Will also discuss new modalities for dry age-related macular degeneration treatment, focusing on indications for intravitreal injections.
