Dr Kelvin Ngan is a Melbourne and New Zealand-trained Specialist Ophthalmologist with advanced training in Medical Retina. He cares for patients with:
· Cataracts
· Macular degeneration
· Diabetic retinopathy
· Retinal vascular diseases
· Inflammatory eye diseases / uveitis
· Comprehensive general eye care
Dr Ngan completed his medical and ophthalmology training in Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand, and was awarded the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO) New Zealand Branch Travelling Scholarship. He then undertook a Medical Retina and Ocular Immunology Fellowship at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. During this time, he also worked as a co-investigator on numerous clinical trials with Cerulea Clinical Trials, helping to develop new treatments for retinal diseases.
After attaining Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (FRANZCO), Dr Ngan was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and Royal Melbourne Hospital. He remains actively involved in public healthcare and enjoys teaching and supervising future ophthalmologists.
Dr Ngan is dedicated to patient-centred, evidence-based care, supporting each person to make informed decisions about their eye health. Growing up in Malaysia’s multicultural community and training among New Zealand’s Māori, Pasifika, and diverse populations has strengthened his commitment to health equity and enabled him to bring a warm, inclusive, and culturally sensitive approach to caring for patients in Melbourne.
